보이지 않는 것들을 향한 상상은 지각을 재편할 수 있는가? 감동환 개인전 《그녀의 왼발 여섯 개의 발가락과 그녀의 왼발 여섯 개의 발가락 중》은 하나의 대상이 지각되는 방식을 되묻는 자리에서 시작한다. 하나의 대상은 전시장에 들어서는 순간 여러 감각으로 분화되고, 보이지 않는 대상 앞에서 상상은 시각이 닿지 못한 자리를 구성한다. 작가는 이전부터 질문해 온 ‘하나이면서 둘’인 경계의 모호성을 이어가며, 하나의 대상이 하나의 이미지로 고정되지 않고 이미지에서 이미지로 이행하는 여러 경로를 만든다. 전시에서 몽상 속 상상은 현실을 벗어나는 도피가 아닌, 상황적 조건 안에서 지각을 재편하고 우회로를 만든다.

Can imagination toward the invisible reconfigure our perception? Donghwan Kam’s solo exhibition, The Six Toes on Her Left Foot and of the Six Toes on Her Left Foot, begins by questioning how a single object is perceived. The moment one enters the exhibition space, a single object fragments across multiple sensations, and in the face of the unseen, imagination constructs the space that vision cannot reach. Continuing his ongoing exploration of the ambiguity of boundaries, the state of being “one yet two,” Kam creates multiple pathways through which an object is never fixed as a single image, but continuously transitions from one image to another. In this exhibition, imagination within daydreaming is not an escape from reality; rather, it reconfigures perception and carves out a detour within the situational conditions.
