《Masochistic Screen》은 몸의 촉각성, 고통, 피학적 신체가 ‘스크린’이라는 기술적 조건을 통해 굴절되는 현상에 주목합니다. 타인의 감각은 어떻게 관람자에게 전달될까요?
작가들은 사물을 잘라 감춰진 단면을 드러내거나, 광원을 회전시켜 통상적인 ‘보기’를 교란합니다. 또 눈앞에 없는 화면 밖(off-screen)의 존재를 물질로 구현해 더듬거나, 송출되는 스크린을 실시간으로 멍들게 합니다. 전시는 스크린을 둘러싼 조건을 다방향으로 살피며, 내밀하게 작동하는 위계적인 힘을 롤 플레이합니다.

Masochistic Screen focuses on how the tactility of the body, pain, and masochistic physicality are refracted through the technical condition of the screen. How are the sensations of others transmitted to the viewer?
The artists cut objects to reveal the hidden cross-sections or rotate light sources to disrupt conventional ways of seeing. They also materialize the presence of what exists outside the screen (off-screen), allowing it to be felt, or bruise the transmitted screen in real-time. This exhibition examines the conditions surrounding the screen from multiple angles, role-playing the ulterior hierarchical forces at work.

* Masochistic Screen is a performance-based exhibition that includes performances by Kwak Sojin, Kwon Heesue, and Kim On, as well as sculptures by Choi Goen.
* The performances in the exhibition have no beginning or end and are repeated sequentially.
* Visitors are free to come and go as they please.
